World AIDS Day 2009

Today Tiger Woods seems to be getting more press than World AIDS Day so I had to do something to get the word out about this initiative.

World AIDS Day is held every year on December 1 as a way to raise awareness about the global AIDS pandemic. While the day was first observed in 1988, it wasn't until 1991 that the red ribbon we all recognize became an international symbol of AIDS awareness.

To raise awareness and money for the Global Fund, the (PRODUCT) RED business model was created. If you don't already know, various brands such as Converse, Emporio Armani, GAP, Nike and Apple make (PRODUCT) RED branded products. A portion of the profits from these items goes directly to the Global Fund to invest in African AIDS programs, with a focus on women and children.
