Grae's Guide to Summer 2010 :: Where to Go

The final day of GRAE's Guide to Summer 2010 is here. It's been an interesting 7 days. You now know how to dress, which artists to listen to, what sports events to watch, what movies to see, what to read, and what shows to check out on TV. So what's left? Where to go of course!

Vans Warped Tour
With over 30 dates across the country, Vans Warped Tour will run through mid-August. The bill features some of GNY's favorite artists like Mike Posner, The Cab, 3Oh!3, VersaEmerge and The Pretty Reckless.

Lilith Fair
The late '90s all-female tour is back! Night-after-night artists like Erykah Badu, Sheryl Crow, Selena Gomez, Rihanna, and Corinne Bailey Rae will take to the stage and raise awareness for various charities.

Lollapalooza
If I lived in Chicago I'd definitely spend my birthday weekend (August 6-8) at Lollapalooza. Scheduled performers include B.O.B, Matt & Kim, Dirty Projectors, and Lady GaGa.

Broadway in Bryant Park
Last year I spent a few of my lunch breaks in Midtown's Bryant Park watching some of Broadway's top shows. The free series begins next Thursday with performances from the casts of STOMP, Promises, Promises, In the Heights, and Nunsense.

Rent
I LOVE Rent. The storyline's moving, the characters are awesome, and the music is catchy. From August 6-8 you can catch three performances of the hit Broadway show in LA's Hollywood Bowl. Notable cast members include Wayne Brady, Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical), Collins Pennie (Fame), Nicole Sherzinger (Pussycat Dolls), Tracie Thoms (Rent, the movie) and Skylar Astin (Spring Awakening).

Nylon Music Tour
Since 2008, Nylon magazine has expanded its brand to include a summer tour and a music tour. This year's summer tour begins at the end of July with British-based Kele Okereke as the headlining artist.

Sounds Like Paper 2010
The first Sounds Like Paper event didn't go as planned, but there are two more scheduled for July 22 and August 19. Hopefully the crowds won't get so out of hand like last time.

Six Flags Great Adventure
Every year Six Flags puts on some good shows with the hottest acts. This year's performers include B.O.B., Hot Chelle Rae, and The Maine.
